Friday Night at Home
reading: Black House by Stephen King and Peter Straub
I’m still not entirely well in my chest. My coughing frequency is down, but it’s quite a noise when I let one loose. There is still plenty of congestion in the chest. My energy level comes and goes. I would love nothing more than to be at the St. Joseph Bears and Niles Vikings homecoming game tonight, but it is just best that I stay at home and rest a bit. Hate it, but it has to be done.

We plan on resting a bit this weekend. There are no soccer games tomorrow, so hopefully the kids will be able to enjoy the waning days of warm weather. If I could ever find my Stephen King/Peter Straub book, I could read it outside. I would love to have another bonfire in the pit and grill some dinner tomorrow. That would be a great way to take advantage of warm weather.
Dylan scored two goals last night in a 3-2 loss to a Dowagiac team. I missed his goals because Katelyn’s game was going on at the same time. However, I got to see his two goals in the game previous to this one. He was jazzed about scoring, and it took away some of the sting of the loss.
Katelyn’s skills and attention span have really improved over last season. We are really proud of her. We keep telling her to “kick and chase, kick and chase.” The message is starting to click with her. She is putting more emphasis on dribbling the soccer ball than just kicking it and watching it go. I have to keep it all in perspective: she is six years old and a first grader. How she performs now is not indicative to how she will perform in the future. She will come along, she will find her own way, and she will find her niche.
I just want my kids to make the most of their skills and opportunities. These years are short! I last was an athlete in 1987, which was more than a lifetime ago.

Heather just discovered some fun color settings on her camera, so she has been doing a lot of experimenting since last night. She’s really excited about the new possibilities. Stroll on over to Facebook, and check it out.
We were at Silver Beach just tonight doing some photography. I was surprised at just how many people were there, and how many people with kids were there. It was a really pleasant night with a gentle breeze coming off Lake Michigan.

If it were not for CSI: NY marathons on Spike TV, I just might have gnawed my arm off yesterday.
