Rainy Saturday

09-09-06_pregamewithref (23k image) What do you think about my website redesign? Let me know. I got the color scheme inspiration from a Dutch Boy color card at Meijer’s. I knew I wanted to tinker around a bit, but my design skills are best left to taking the advice of others. Color matching? Oh, forget it!

I got to see my Boilermakers play on TV today! I had started off watching Illinois and Iowa, not realizing that Purdue and Minnesota were playing on another channel. My luck, I surfed around seeing if tehre were other games, and sure enough, my Boilers were on ESPN2. I saw the entire second half, and watched Purdue pull off a satisfying Homecoming victory against the Golden Gophers.

Katelyn and I were out the door after the game to take a walk, but it immediately started raining. We retreated back inside, so here we are. I’m looking outside, and I don’t see rain anymore. Perhaps we will try again to take a walk.

The Dylan soccer picture you see here is a pre-game conference with the referee. I really don’t know what he discusses in those little chats . . .

Ancient History in Your Pocket

wltx.com | Sumter Woman Finds Possible Ancient Coin In Grocery Change

I used to find wheat pennies all the time when I was a kid in the 1970's. Kinda pales in comparison.

Dig All You Like

2,100 year old cave found under high school - News from Israel, Ynetnews

"Students at Rogozin High School in Tel Aviv don't need to go far to get an archeology lesson: Just a few feet under their classrooms, municipal workers discovered ancient burial cave."

See, cool things like this do not happen in my hometown. If you were go to Tippecanoe Valley High School and start digging, all you would find is just more dirt.

Additions and/or Corrections

F i n d i n g M y W a y - September 10, 2006

09-09-06_dylangetsgoalie2 (16k image) In my September 10 entry, I had alluded to having a new set of pictures from Dylan's first soccer game. I backfilled that entry with some of the pictures from the day. So, click the link just above, and check it out.

I still have plenty of pictures left from that day to post in future entries. Also, there have been three games since then, so I won’t run out of material any time soon.

Friday Night Fun with Katelyn

Katelyn

I came home early today to help Heather get on the road to Fort Wayne earlier. Today was a tough day to leave early since so much is going on at the office. I will have to find a way to put in some work this weekend. Times will be getting better . . . we have more new people on the horizon starting soon.

Wait, let’s start again, I did not mean to talk about work.

I came home early today to help Heather get on the road to Fort Wayne earlier. She and Dylan took off right on schedule, so I just waited on Katelyn to wake up from her nap. We spent some time outside just walking around and goofing off. I wanted to walk down to the observation deck, but Katelyn really did not seem interested. She just wanted to stay home in the back yard.

So, we just took a bunch of fun goofy pictures together. Make sure you click the more! link below to see them all.

Putting Off Having Children

Guardian Unlimited | Science | Botanists grow plants from seeds gathered 200 years ago

"A handful of 200-year-old seeds discovered inside a red leather-bound notebook at the National Archives in London have been nurtured to life by botanists at the Royal Botanic Gardens."

Do you think this will work with the all the old apples and oranges at the bottom of our refrigerator? Could we grow trees with those old seeds?

A Key Difference Between Baptists and Muslims

Mainstream Baptist: A Key Difference Between Baptists and Muslims

"'Separation of church and state is so artificial,' he said, stressing that Islam is a way of life that permeates every aspect of being -- individual, family and society."

The Bible acknowledges that we live our lives in a world that is not all Christian. Christianity is a way of life that permeates our individuality and family and church, but not all of society. We are not called to set up Christian states.

I cannot help but wonder what such a Christian government would be like . . . would it inevitably become oppressive like other religious governments have?

Lift Him Up, Scotty

A testament for Trekkies - Sunday Times - Times Online

"A PREACHER has decided to boldly go where no cleric has gone before by writing the gospel according to Star Trek."

As fun as it would be to read devotionals and Sunday School lessons using Star Trek as a basis for teaching the Gospel, it wold be more of a distraction for me than a real help. Nevertheless, perhaps I will try to find the preacher's website on-line and just see for myself.

Ten Reasons Why I Never Wash

1. I was forced to wash as a child.

2. People who wash are hypocrites--they think they're cleaner than others.

3. There are so many kinds of soap, I could never decide which was right.

4. I used to wash, but it got boring.

5. I wash only on Christmas or Easter.

6. None of my friends wash.

7. I'll start washing when I'm older.

8. I really don't have time to wash.

9. The bathroom isn't warm enough to wash.

10. People who make soap are only after your money.

----------

Does anyone see any parallels here?
