South Bend Tribune: South Bend sets new one-day rain record

According to preliminary figures from the National Weather Service monitoring station at the South Bend Regional Airport, 7.06 inches of rain had fallen by 7 p.m. Saturday, handily trouncing the previous record of 4.69 inches set June 25, 1968.

I was stunned last night during the late news and they announced that the weather had smashed its record. It was not just a bump up, it was an obliteration.

I doubt that we received anywhere near 7.06 inches today, but it still rained nearly the entire day. We had a brief one hour break this afternoon, just long enough for Heather and Dylan to go out and play on the moped a bit. The rain has been unbelieveable these past few days. And a lot of it thanks to a hurricane, no less. Here in Michigan!

After church, we unloaded a huge wooden jungle gym that we had been given, and we did it in the rain. Luckily, it was not cold, windy, or pouring. It was a steady rain, and we got wet, but not drenched as if we had fallen in to a pool.

Dylan and I enjoyed some hot wings tonight. We occasionally do the primal guy thing, put five pounds of wings in the oven, and lather them in tongue-searing wing sauce. It was fun while watching the football games on today.
