The War of the Worlds by H. G. Wells
Heather’s parents from Indiana came up on Saturday and we celebrated our Christmas with them. We had a traditional meal that turned out perfectly: ham, cheesy scalloped potatoes, green bean casserole, and sweet potato soufflé. Actually, we had enough leftovers to have lunch and dinner yesterday as well!
Dylan received some shirts, Katelyn received some nice winter clothes, and we gave my in-laws a new digital camera. Heather even took Mattie to the drug store to show he how to process and print the pictures on her memory card.
We played some board games, but it was time for them to go in the early evening. After they took off, we went to Banner Books and Wal-Mart to spend some Christmas money. I bought two CD’s: Superchick’s Regeneration and Rush’s Snakes and Arrows. I had money left over to get two books: Orson Scott Card’s Ender’s Game, and L Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future Volume XXIII
Ender’s Game is a Nebula and Hugo award winning novel, which fits perfectly in the focus I have right now. It’s not in our local library. I was surprised to see that the Writers of the Future series is still going on. I bought the first two or three in the series way back in my early bachelor days.

Today starts a return to routine. The kids are back in school, I begin five-day workweeks, and a new year takes hold.
