10/14/2007: "Encounter Revival Underway"
listening to: Complete Silence
I pray that I experience revival this week during the Encounter team visit.
I have had no lack of book learning on the Bible for the past several months. Between Sunday School teaching, Thursday Night Bible Study, and other opportunities, I feel much stronger in the scriptures than before.
However, is that translating to a softer heart for God? Yes, in the respect that I have more respect for Him and His plan. I am more and more in awe of His workings and plan for me. Not exactly, in the respect of obedience and dependence upon Him. I have grown some over time, but I need a quantum leap of improvement now.
Between busyness in my personal life and my church life, between soccer, football, and other commitments, and between the various stressful situations in my life, I feel like I need some more focus on Him. I feel like I need to take the next step in giving Him my problems, concerns, and putting my faith in God Who can soothe me and put me at peace.
I would share some of my revelations from today with you, but my notes are in the van! Heather and our Encounter guests are at a social function. I would rather share when I can quote correctly.
However, I can tell you a little bit about the “broken” versus “crushed.” God wants us to be broken in the sense that we have no more pride and are willing to submit it all to Him. We cry out for help and righteousness. Crushed means that we never get it, and we suffer. He does not want us to be crushed, although He will allow it if we choose it.
