10/13/2007: "Saturday Night Update"
listening to: The Matrix Soundtrack
This is my third pictureless entry in a row, for those of you keeping track.
It’s been a very busy Friday and Saturday. Katelyn had a couple of friends stay the night last night. Dylan and I went grocery shopping together, which really was not as bad as you might think. We worked well together. Well, bribing him with his favorite foods helped too.
[ sure, you can get that bag of chicken wings ]
When I got home, I ate pizza and spent much of the evening cleaning the kitchen and putting away groceries while Heather and the kids watched a movie. After the kids went to bed, Heather and I both fell asleep in the living room!
We got up this morning, attended two different soccer games, ate lunch at Pizza Hut, and Heather had her nails done at the mall. We dropped off the girls at a birthday party – coincidentally 100 yards away from our house – and went to church to participate in the 24 Hours of Prayer. Just as we were finishing, the Encounter revival team arrived. More on them in a bit. We raced home to finish cleaning and tidying up. Heather picked up Katelyn from the birthday party, and picked up our two Encounter houseguests.
They all came home, and we got acquainted while watching college football. Heather went and got some more groceries while the boys went out with Dylan to play catch. I gave Katelyn a bath, Heather put her to bed, and I had some soup with chips and salsa.
So, here it is late at night, and I am worn out.

So, what’s up with Encounter? They are a traveling group of young adults who put on revival services for churches around the Midwest. They are staying with us from today through next Saturday. They will handle the Sunday services, both AM and PM, and will hold nightly revival services Monday through Friday of next week. All we have to do is show up and get a blessing.
So, why are two of the guys staying with us? That’s part of the deal of their revival services: the young adults get to stay in the houses of the church members they are visiting. Back in 2004, we hosted one student, and two back in 2005. It’s a real blessing having them here; they really don’t take up a lot of space, and they are gone most all of the day practicing or studying. We just feed them breakfast and snacks. Our two guys are from New York and North Carolina, and are both 19.
Due to the “busyness” we have in our lives, we may not get to attend every single revival meeting this week. Soccer, football, Bible Study Fellowship for me, and various other meetings here and there will keep us busy.
Especially Friday night! We have tickets to a Barlow Girl / Thousand Foot Crutch / Toby Mac concert at Michigan State University. Christian rock . . . well, it rocks!
