10/11/2007: "Wisdom From a Fortune Cookie"

listening to: FM 90.7 -- Andrews University -- Classical

From a fortune cookie: The pleasure of knowledge and learning surpasses all others.

Strictly speaking, this is not true. The joy and the hope we have in Christ should be the pleasure that surpasses all others.

However, let’s look at this in a secular frame of mind. I joke that the time I spent at Purdue University was “the best five and a half years or my life.” I speak partially because of the fun and freedom I had while I was there with my friends and fraternity. However, I also speak of the time I spent in the classroom.

I love being a student. I love learning. Often times here at home when I am the last one up, I will strain my brain thinking of subjects to research on the web. That’s why I seem to have so many obscure links about the world’s highest roads and my high school football history.

I would love to work on an MBA, or go back to school in some capacity. I miss the classroom.

This is also why I am enjoying our current Thursday Night Bible Study so much. It has a heavy focus on the richness of the original Greek of the New Testament. I love the knowledge I am gaining, and it gives me further appreciation for what God has done for us.

Love those greek verbs!! It's nice to to see the root meaning of words we take for granted. those greeks had a tactile feel for words and they bring a sense three-dimensionality to the passages we have been referring to!
