06/19/2007: "Weekend in Indiana"
Most of the time when Heather and I are at some sort of social gathering, we are either hosting or a part of the planning committee. It’s rather rare that we get to sit back and enjoy the fruits of someone else’s labor. That was the case this weekend!
Saturday morning we went to visit friends Jenny and Shawn in Indiana. They had planned a family reunion of sorts, and had invited us to attend. It was strange just sitting around watching everyone else work and prepare the food, but it was very nice and relaxing.
I got to enjoy BBQ pork, smoked turkey, pasta salad, grape salad, beans and weenies, crackers and cheese of every sort, muffins, veggies and dip, and a whole assortment of pop. I stuffed myself, and enjoyed every bite.
It’s nice being able to sit and chat under a shade tree with new and old friends. Dylan and Katelyn were able to enjoy themselves with the other kids who were visiting. If the kids are happy, you know the adults have a chance to be happy as well. They kept themselves occupied, so Heather and I could visit and relax.
Later that night after we helped clean up, we picked up some Penguin Point chick in Warsaw, and went on to spend the night with Heather’s parents. We played a game of Skip-Bo and Aggravation, and soon headed to bed.
Sunday we got up, and treated Heather’s parents to breakfast at a very busy Bob Evans. We were home by 1 PM, and I just napped and read and did garden work the rest of the day. What follows are a few more pictures from the day.
Matt received a new toy Gator from his grandfather, but Katelyn got far more out of it than he did! She drove it around all day, and was the queen of the driveway.
Katelyn was brave enough to try the tree swing. She was scared the fiirst few times she tried it, but became a pro soon enough. She's a tough girl.
Before the Gator came out, Katelyn pulled Matt along in his wagon. She is destinted to be a babysitter someday.
