03/12/2007: "First Glimpse of Spring"

listening to: The Black Donnely's on NBC
reading: The Dispossessed by Ursula K. LeGuin

This past Saturday I was able to take Katelyn out for a walk to the observation deck at the end of our road. This was the first time this year I felt comfortable taking her out to play.

She enjoyed marching up and down the remaining piles of snow along the road, and really enjoyed the bright sunny weather. However, once we got the lake, I could not see the horizon to the west! There was enough overcast along the lake to blur the line between sky and lake. I was hoping to take pictures of the lighthouse from our observation point using the zoom on the video camera, but I guess that will have to wait for another day.

Sill, I was able to take quite a few pictures, and I will be sharing them at some later point. I’m relaxing here on the couch as I write this entry, and don’t want to work that hard tonight.

Daddy let Katelyn get muddy. She wanted to make snow angels, and did them in snow shallow enough to expose mud as she moved her legs and arms back and forth. Heh, I had to do some laundry when we got home. However, it was worth it to let her blow off some steam.

----------

After we had dinner tonight, I took the kids out to play for a while. Again, it was warm and very enjoyable. My parents came up this morning to give Katelyn her birthday presents, and one was a soccer ball. So the three of us demonstrated our mad skillz with the soccer ball . . . well, mostly Dylan demonstrated. Katelyn and I just knocked the ball around. She seemed to enjoy having her own ball, and was really upset that she had to come in for the night!

So, Spring seems to be creeping up upon us!

I kept forgetting to talk to my co-worker about his batting equipment! Grrr! I'll have to get on it Monday.

Well, it got colder, but all the sunshine this week has me thinking we'll be out at the batting cages in no time! My "first glimpse" always seems to involve leather & pine tar, go figure!
