02/18/2007: "Head On, Apply Directly to the Forehead"

listening to: Cold Case on CBS
reading: Ringworld by Larry Niven

We had a little bit of emergency room drama this weekend. I was in the middle of building a new bookshelf on Saturday, and the pieces are all over the floor. Katelyn ran through the living room to show me something, but tripped, and slammed her forehead against the shelf. Part of the shelf broke, but worse than that, blood started rolling down Katelyn’s crying face!

She seemed to have a nasty little gash in her forehead, but the serious bleeding stopped rather quickly. We debated if we should take her in to the emergency room. If we had been able to put a bandage on her forehead, we would have left it at that. However, she is allergic to adhesives, so we were worried about how to keep the wound clean.

We were in the hospital for about two or so hours. The doctor put some medical Durabond superglue on the wound, and then put some Tagaderm on over that. She received a little teddy bear for all of her troubles. She was worried a bit that people would make fun of her at church today, but she was not the least bit shy about telling everyone about her boo-boo.

She will be just fine!
